What does the name Amaris mean?

Amaris has no documented origin; Wiktionary lists it without an etymology. Name sites often give it a Hebrew meaning such as 'promised by God', apparently by linking it with the biblical name Amariah ('YHWH has said'), but we found no evidence for that derivation. In Latin, amaris happens to mean 'you are loved', which may add to its appeal. It has been used in the US since the late 1960s.

How sure is this? Not documented. Proposed Hebrew and Latin meanings are not documented as its source.

Other explanations you may read: Hebrew 'promised by God' (from Amariah).
