What does the name Audrey mean?

Audrey is a medieval English form of the Old English name Æthelthryth, made of æthel, 'noble', and thryth, 'strength'; DMNES gives the same analysis. Saint Æthelthryth, a 7th-century Anglo-Saxon queen who founded the abbey at Ely, was known as Saint Audrey, and Wiktionary notes that the word tawdry comes from 'Saint Audrey lace' sold at her fair. DMNES records both Audrey and the Latin Etheldreda in English records from the 14th to 16th centuries.
