What does the name Eliezer mean?

Eliezer is the Hebrew name אֱלִיעֶזֶר (Eliʿezer), made of el 'God', the suffix -i 'my', and ʿezer 'help', giving 'my God is help'. In Exodus 18:4 Moses names his second son Eliezer and explains that the God of his father was his help and rescued him from Pharaoh's sword. Genesis 15:2 also names Abraham's household steward Eliezer of Damascus. It is a separate name from the similar Eleazar, which DMNES glosses 'God has helped' and which is the source of Lazarus.
