What does the name Evander mean?

Evander comes from Latin Euander, from Greek Euandros, built from eu 'good, well' and anēr, andros 'man'. In Roman legend, told by Virgil in the Aeneid, Evander was an Arcadian king who settled on the site of Rome before the city's founding. The name was taken up in Scotland in the early modern period and has been used in the US since at least the 1880s, often in families of Scottish descent.
