What does the name Lucia mean?

Lucia is the feminine of the Roman first name Lucius, which was linked with Latin lux, 'light'. DMNES (under Lucy) glosses it 'light' and notes that Saint Lucy, a martyr of around 300 in Sicily, is one of the women named in the Canon of the Mass, which made the name popular in the Middle Ages. DMNES also points out that Lucy and Lucia are not related to Luke. Spanish has Lucía, French Lucie and English Lucy.

Lūcia (Latin, “feminine of Lucius”)lūx (Latin, “light”)

How sure is this? Probable. The link of Lucius with lux 'light' is the traditional explanation.
