What does the name Misael mean?

Misael is the Spanish and Latin form of the biblical Mishael, Hebrew Mishaʼel. In the Book of Daniel he is one of Daniel's three companions at the Babylonian court, renamed Meshach. The name is usually analyzed as mi 'who' + sha 'what' (or a form of it) + El 'God', a question meaning roughly 'who is what God is?', a pattern like Michael's 'who is like God?'. The Latin Bible spelling Misael spread through Spanish-speaking countries.

מִישָׁאֵל (Mishaʼel) (Biblical Hebrew, “Mishael”)אֵל (El) (Hebrew, “God”)

How sure is this? Probable. The 'who is what God is' reading is the usual scholarly analysis but the middle element is not certain.

Pronunciation: Spanish speakers say mee-sah-EL, with three syllables.

Related names: Mishael, Michael.
