What does the name Noah mean?

Noah is the Hebrew name of the man who builds the ark in Genesis. DMNES links it to a Hebrew word meaning 'to rest'. Genesis 5:29 explains the name differently, by a pun on a word for comfort or relief; the JPS translation notes this wordplay. DMNES says Protestants began using Noah as a given name in the 16th century.

נֹחַ (Biblical Hebrew, “Noaḥ; linked with 'rest'”)

How sure is this? Probable. The linguistic root ('rest') and the Genesis explanation ('comfort') differ, so both are shown.
