What does the name Rosalina mean?

Rosalina is the Spanish, Italian and Portuguese form of Rosaline or Rosalind. Rosalind comes from a Germanic name built from hros 'horse' and lind 'soft, tender' (or 'linden-wood shield'), but in Romance languages it was soon reinterpreted as rosa 'rose' plus a pet ending, and many parents hear it as 'little rose' or 'pretty rose' (rosa linda). That reading is a later association, not the origin. Rosalina is also a character in Nintendo's Super Mario games (from 2007).
