What does the name Rosetta mean?

Rosetta is an Italian diminutive of Rosa (Rose), "little rose", with the ending -etta. DMNES notes that the medieval name Rose was originally Germanic (hrōþ, "fame") but was soon understood as Latin rosa, "rose". The Rosetta Stone takes its name from an unrelated Egyptian town, whose name probably comes from Arabic. Rosetta was used in the US from the 19th century and was most common in the 1920s to 1940s.
