What does the name Stacy mean?

Stacy has two sources. As an English surname it comes from medieval pet forms of Eustace, Greek Eustachys, which DMNES glosses 'fruitful' (from eu 'good' and stachys 'ear of grain'). As a girls' name it is also a short form of Anastasia, the feminine of Anastasius, from Greek anastasis 'resurrection'. Wiktionary notes it was used for boys and then very commonly for girls in the 1970s.
