What does the name Teagan mean?
Teagan has two traditions. For boys it continues an Irish diminutive of Tadhg, a name DMNES derives from Old Irish tadc, "poet" (Yonge's 1884 index agrees). For girls it is usually taken as a variant of Tegan, a 20th-century Welsh name from tegan, "pet, darling" (literally a toy or plaything). The modern American unisex use mixes both, so no single meaning is safe.

How sure is this? Uncertain. Two separate origins (Irish and Welsh) for one modern spelling.
