What does the name Tiffany mean?

Tiffany comes from Greek theophania 'manifestation of God', made of theos 'god' and phainein 'to show, appear'. Theophania was another name for the feast of the Epiphany, and DMNES notes that in medieval England the name was given to girls born or baptized around that feast. It became an English surname, and its 20th-century revival owes much to the jewelers Tiffany & Co. and the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's.
