What does the name Marceline mean?

Marceline is a French girls' name, the feminine of Marcellin, which comes from Latin Marcellinus, a form built on Marcellus. DMNES explains Marcellus as a diminutive of Marcus, and Marcus as a Roman first name derived either from Mars, the god of war, or from an Etruscan name of unknown meaning. So Marceline is at heart "little Marcus," with an uncertain deeper root. Wiktionary notes towns named Marceline in Missouri and a neighborhood of Pasadena.

Marcellinus (Latin, “from Marcellus”)Marcus (Latin, “praenomen, perhaps from Mars”)

How sure is this? Probable. The chain to Marcus is clear; DMNES calls the origin of Marcus itself either Mars or an Etruscan name.
