What does the name Noe mean?

Noe (Spanish Noé) is the Spanish and Latin form of Noah, through Greek Nōe from Hebrew Noaḥ. The name is usually connected with the Hebrew root nuaḥ 'to rest'. In Genesis 5:29 his father Lamech names him saying he will bring comfort, a wordplay on a similar-sounding root (n-ḥ-m). The JPS notes treat that as a play on the name rather than its etymology. Noé is a common name among Spanish-speaking families.

נֹחַ (Noaḥ) (Biblical Hebrew, “Noah”)נ־ו־ח (n-w-ḥ) (Hebrew, “to rest”)

How sure is this? Probable.

Pronunciation: Spanish Noé is two syllables stressed on the end (noh-EH); English speakers sometimes say NOH.
