Truly unisex baby names

Names given to both girls and boys in real numbers, measured by the actual split of US babies, not by how a name sounds. By our rule, 34 names qualify; the best known are Parker, Charlie, Emerson, Blake, Tatum and Rory.

How this list is made

At least 2,500 babies in 2021–2025, at least 500 of each sex, and between 35% and 65% girls. Balanced means 40% to 60%; stable means the share in 2016–2020 was also between 30% and 70%. Counts are from Social Security records; "per million" means babies given the name per million babies of the same sex recorded that year, which keeps old and new years comparable.
